Improved Security for Pastoral Center

Keeping Our Children Safe

New Door in Pastoral Center

In May of 2013, St. John Neumann staff engaged the Patriot Readiness Options Training Group, a company who provides site assessment and training for handling a critical incident, to consult on safety procedures at St. John Neumann.  The results of this consultation included hands-on training for Preschool teachers and staff later that year.  A project was then proposed to install security doors which would increase security for the children in the St. John Neumann Preschool, as well as for the church staff, from any unauthorized entry during school hours.

The construction project to install the new security doors at the south end of the first and second floor halls in the Pastoral Center is now complete.  During normal Preschool hours, the new security doors will be locked along with all doors entering Morris Hall.  Entry codes for Preschool parents will be used for access during these times.  All other visitors should enter the Pastoral Center at the south entrance near the playground where they can be cleared for entry by a member of the church staff.  During other times, the security doors will remain unlocked in order to minimize the impact on parish activities and scheduled meetings in the Pastoral Center. These new procedures will be implemented on Monday, April 20.  We thank you for your patience as we continue to look for ways to improve our safety procedures for the children at the St. John Neumann Preschool.
