Couples of Faith

Journeying together as a couple and as a deanery community in our faith.

St. John Neumann strives to  be a community of hope and help for marriages & families. The Marriage Ministry is committed to bringing couples into a closer intimate relationship with God and their mates by providing:
• tools to enrich marriage through education;
• activities to promote communication and intimacy;
• and biblical understanding of the precepts of marriage so that God will be glorified in our marriages.
We strive to be a ministry at St. John Neumann that brings married Catholic couples at all stages of their marriages together to strengthen their marriages so as to bring Christ’s loving presence more fully into their lives and the lives of our community.
•Offer opportunities for couples to develop friendships with other married couples
•Offer ways to keep our hearts one with Christ’s giving us strength for the journey
•Give us pause in life to spend some time with our spouses
Whether you are new to marriage or coming up on your golden anniversary, starting a family, raising kids on your own, or healing from a broken marriage you’ll find links to a variety of SJN ministries that can help you:
• Support and strengthen your marriage and/or family life

Fall Kickoff Event

Saturday, September 22
6:30-9:00PM, St. Timothy Room

Fall is a time of transitions! Sometimes the hectic pace can result in a business-like energy of getting lists checked off and kids carted to various places. This can leave us feeling exhausted and disconnected from the ones we love.

We invite you to call a time out on the business of life and join us for some dedicated couple time! Our Couples of Faith fall kick-off will start with fellowship and dinner, and then parishioner Joy Downing will speak to us about “Four Sneaky Habits” that deplete our love banks and how to redirect those moments to create deeper connection. This is a great topic for any stage in your marriage.

Registration is $55 per couple.

Baby sitting available – please register by September 19.

Please consider donating $5 per child to offset babysitting costs.
Don’t have young children? Consider helping a young family by donating toward babysitting for this event.

Speaker: Joy Downing is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. A SJN parishioner, she graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University. Her passion is working with couples and adult individuals who seek to deepen their connections. Joy believes that we are created to be in relationship and that love is the root from which all people and relationships can grow. Joy has been married for 20 years and has 2 teen boys. Small Group Classes:

United in Love, United in Christ

Tuesdays, October 9 – November 13
6:30-8:30PM, Pastoral Center Room 106
Facilitators: Jim and Mattie Nickelatti
Cost: $25 per couple

Created by Jason and Elise Angelette, this 6-week program will help your marriage thrive by drawing you closer to God and closer to each other. For a married couple to be united in love, they must first be united in Christ. The program uses Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, magisterial documents, and personal stories from couples to illustrate how married couples can be more closely grafted to Christ and receive all that they need for a healthy and flourishing love.
