Couples of Faith

Journeying together as a couple and as a deanery community in our faith.

St. John Neumann strives to  be a community of hope and help for marriages & families. The Marriage Ministry is committed to bringing couples into a closer intimate relationship with God and their mates by providing:
• tools to enrich marriage through education;
• activities to promote communication and intimacy;
• and biblical understanding of the precepts of marriage so that God will be glorified in our marriages.

We strive to be a ministry at St. John Neumann that brings married Catholic couples at all stages of their marriages together to strengthen their marriages so as to bring Christ’s loving presence more fully into their lives and the lives of our community.
•Offer opportunities for couples to develop friendships with other married couples
•Offer ways to keep our hearts one with Christ’s giving us strength for the journey
•Give us pause in life to spend some time with our spouses

Whether you are new to marriage or coming up on your golden anniversary, starting a family, raising kids on your own, or healing from a broken marriage you’ll find links to a variety of SJN ministries that can help you:
• Support and strengthen your marriage and/or family life
• Respond to the call to be a sign of God’s love in the world through the way you live marriage and/or family life

Check out how this ministry can help you have a vibrant, life-giving marriage & family life!

Calendar of Events:

Thursday, November 30, 2017 – An Advent Kit for Couples

Advent is a time for preparation. How can we better prepare for the coming of Christ through our Advent journey as a married couple? Come to our ‘Advent Kit for Couples’ event and get ready for the journey. Join our pastor, Fr. Bud Roland, and Jon and Hilary Olson  to ‘pack your bags’ for the journey. The presentations will reflect on the Gospels for the upcoming Sundays during Advent, and how you can take time as a married couple during this season to prepare for the birth of Christ together.

Appetizers will be served by the parish and each couple is invited to bring wine or their favorite beverage to share. Join us for fellowship, prayer and reflection on how to ‘pack’ for the journey of Advent. Each couple will leave with a small kit for the journey.

7-9pm in the St. Timothy Room

$20 per couple (includes snacks and Advent Kit with book)

Please register by noon on Monday, November 27th so that we may purchase food & materials.

Saturday, December 2, 2017 – Date Night at Emmaus: “Family as the Seedbed of Vocations” with Fr. Jonathan Raia

Fr. Jonathan Raia, a native of Houston, was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Austin in 2009 and has been the Vocation Director for the Diocese of Austin since July 2014. He serves as a spiritual director and adjunct faculty member for the Institute for Priestly Formation and also has served on the Institute for Spiritual Direction, which trains lay spiritual directors for the Diocese of Austin.

Fr. Raia will present “Family as the Seedbed of Vocations”. He will talk to us about the vocation of marriage first (how remembering that the marriage points to heaven can actually help the couple better love one another and their children), then how parents can make their home a place to help their children discern their own vocations.

The Dinner and Conference is $40 per couple, which includes child care, and starts at 6:30pm with light snacks and fellowship, followed by our speaker. We will finish up at 7:45 pm with dinner and more fellowship in a nice and comfortable setting for our couples to unwind and reflect.

If you would like to come listen to our speakers, but not stay for dinner, you can do so FREE OF CHARGE
*** if child care is needed, cost is $5 per child with a reservation on or before the Wednesday before the conference.

We offer these nights for couples to enjoy time to reconnect but we know things do come up and sometimes only one can attend, please know that married parties of one will still gain blessings so if that is you, please still RSVP and come! Please pass this email along to anyone you think may want to join us!
