Mobile Loaves & Fishes

“For I was hungry & you gave me food, I was thirsty & you gave me drink, I was a stranger & you welcomed me (Mt 25:35).”

The Gospel is a paradox.  When we give, we receive.  In our struggles, we grow.  And in bringing God to the poor, we discover that the poor bring us to God.

“Come and see (Jn 1:39).”

The mission of Mobile Loaves & Fishes is to provide food & clothing – and promote dignity – to our homeless brothers & sisters in need.  Furthermore, the vision of Mobile Loaves & Fishes involves empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless.  Every day of the year, people from all walks of life – families, friends, youth groups, churches, other service groups – go on “truck runs,” bringing food, clothing, hygiene products, and most importantly, friendship, to citizens living on the streets.

In addition to truck runs, the ministry has expanded to include the Community First housing & ROADS Micro-Enterprise programs.  Since its formation in 1998, Mobile Loaves & Fishes has served over 4 million meals – and has provided the opportunity for 18,000 volunteers to encounter the love of God through his beloved poor.

To learn more about how you can participate, please call the St. John Neumann Commissary at {512} 306-8036.
