Rosary Workshop 2017

Rosary Workshop February 2016 046

Mr. & Mrs. Johnson assisting a First Holy Communion student with their selection of a crucifix.

I am delighted to pass along to you that Mary Johnson has volunteered for the 10th year to host a special Rosary Workshop for students receiving their First Holy Communion. The students will create their own customized rosary for their First Reconciliation and Communion.  This workshop is set for Sunday afternoon, February 5. On the registration form your child will have an opportunity to choose the main bead color and select a preference for the center medal located at the beginning of the five decades of the rosary.  A registration fee of $20 should accompany your registration form, which is included at the bottom of an email sent out late December.  Mary will order the supplies and have an assortment of crucifixes and Our Father bead colors to choose from at the workshop that Sunday, but it is IMPORTANT TO REGISTER EARLY for the workshop, so that she can have beads on hand by February 5.  THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS JANUARY 20.  **** You can turn in your forms at the Pastoral Center to Christie McGee, or mail them by January 15 to Mary Johnson’s home address located on the registration form.  The order for supplies will be placed the morning of January 23.
The workshop on February 5 will begin promptly at 1pm for last names A-J, and 2:15pm for last names K-Z.  It will be in the Holy Family Center.  Pizza will be served.  One parent is asked to accompany your First Communicant.  If you have older children or parents interested in making a rosary as well, please include them on the registration form along with the additional registration fee, and Mary will confirm whether there is room to include them in the project (it depends on how many First Communicants are registered).  Please make other arrangements for any younger children, since we will have our hands full with our students and millions of small beads in the area; it is not an option to bring younger siblings along.  The Nursery in the Pastoral Center will be available.  Please email Christie McGee if you need this service.
This rosary workshop will not only produce a treasured First Communion rosary, but will open up discussions with your children about what a special time this is for them in their faith, and will help to bring us all closer to Jesus and Mary.  Mary Johnson gives her time to this workshop and coordinates it with the assistance of her family and parishioners.  All fees are used toward your child’s rosary.
Thank you, Mary, for making this opportunity possible for our First Holy Communion students!  We are truly blessed to have you at SJN!
