Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Positions employed at St. John Neumann Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.

Job Summary
The Director of Liturgy is responsible for all liturgical aspects of the parish and is the primary resource person in matters of liturgy to maintain compliance with both the Church and Diocesan guidelines. This position facilitates the attainment of the parish mission and related goals and objectives of the parish through various administrative and supervisory responsibilities. The Director reports to the Pastor and operates with moderate latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative. All Administrative, Financial, and HR issues are reported through the Chief Operations Officer with operational coordination conducted with the Music Director.

This position requires the combining of leadership ability and individual accountability to guarantee results and solutions which meet the worship goals of a large, growing parish. This position also requires superior communication, organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, fluid environment is a must. While the goal of the parish is to grow solid, self- managing volunteers, it should be recognized that this position requires “hands-on” involvement and participation with all aspects of liturgical preparation for the parish.

This position requires regular, rotating attendance at each weekend Mass, to assist clergy and volunteers as necessary. As an integral part of your ministry for the Church, as carried out in this position, support and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church and the mission of the parish in both your professional and personal life. Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Continuously grow in your profession by participating in liturgical conferences, retreats, associations, reading liturgical publications, and participating in Catholic events.

The salary range for the Liturgy Director position is $43,000 – $55,000, with benefits.
