Ethics & Integrity in Ministry (EIM)

All clergy, paid staff, and volunteers working with youth and vulnerable adults, or volunteering where youth and vulnerable adults are frequently present, at any parish or diocesan location, are required to complete a one-time Application for Ministry prior to beginning their work/service and attend an EIM Workshop within 60 days of submitting the Application. Once the Application is approved, volunteers may engage in ministry until their Workshop is completed, up to 60 days. Volunteers who are non-compliant with EIM are not permitted to serve in ministry.

On August 1, 2016, the Diocese of Austin began using a new education program for our EIM workshop, which will replace our current Basic/Refresher workshop format. The new program is a significant update of current training programs and we believe it is important for all persons that are required to be EIM compliant to participate in this program and receive this updated information. Consequently, all clergy, religious, seminarians and employees, and all volunteers serving in ministry to minors or the vulnerable will attend this new program when they are next due for a workshop.  Verification of safe environment training from a previous diocese no longer serves as training in the Diocese of Austin. Please contact the EIM Office at if you have questions.

How to Check Your EIM Status

  1. Visit this link which takes you the diocesan eAppsDB website for EIM.
  2. Login using your username and password. If you forgot, click the “Forgot your login? Alternate Login” button and follow the directions. Alternatively, contact Paul Juarez (info is below) to get the information.
  3. On the left side, mouse over/hover over the Workshop Dates to see your last workshop date. If it has been more than three years since your most recent workshop, you are due for another workshop. In other words, workshops are valid for three years. The “Organization Status:” at the top left DOES NOT indicate your EIM status.
  4. Alternatively, click the “Print Compliance Verification” button at the bottom left of the screen to see a PDF of your workshop dates, contact info, background check, etc. This can be printed or saved as a PDF to show proof of compliance.
