SVDP Annual Lenten Food Drive

“Charity is the cement which binds communities to God and persons to one another.”

 – St Vincent de Paul

SVDP Annual Lenten Food Drive

            Without nutritious foods, children cannot grow into healthy adults nor can adults work, attend school nor maintain emotional and spiritual focus.  Your SJN Vincentians have assisted hundreds of men, women and children defeat hunger and malnutrition.  This is especially true as we begin our annual SVDP Lenten Food Drive!

            *Cash donations rather than in-kind items are requested; your financial donations will buy twice as much food through the Capitol Area Food Bank rather than you buying items in the grocery store;

            *Mark your check, “SVDP Lenten Food Drive” or so note your SJN website electronic donation;

            *If you want to buy items, please buy personal hygiene items that are not available at the food bank. Such items include disposable diapers, tooth paste, tooth brushes, bath soap, or feminine hygiene products. A table will be set up at the end of the first floor hallway in the Pastoral Center where you may leave your donations between now and Easter;

            *SVDP Food drive will conclude on Easter Sunday;

            *HEB gift cards will be provided to those whom we visit, and food items and cash donations will be provided to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and Donation Collection Center located at 901 W Braker Ln, Austin, TX 78745.  Vincentians across the diocese refer the poor to this sacred place where they may find food, prayer and other assistance.

            *All parishioners are invited to volunteer to staff the food pantry at the SVDP Thrift Store and Family Center.   Any time that you can give to the Vincentian food pantry is a gift to the Lord and the poor whom He asks us to help!  Indicate your interest on the contribution envelope or simply tell a Vincentian of your desire to help.

Pope Francis said, “I know that God does not disappoint.  May the Lord give us this grace of hope to share with those most in need.”
