Solemnity of the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary

Wednesday, August 15 at 8:45 a.m. & 7:00 p.m.

Office & Campus closed

Join us on Wednesday, August 15 at 8:45 am and 7:00 pm to celebrate the rising of Mary’s body and soul to heaven! We’ll venerate St. Mary with special music and prayers. This is a holy day of obligation and so we’ve cleared our parish calendar so that all may attend Mass. We will provide free childcare at the evening Mass. Although walk-ins are welcome, we strongly encourage registration. Click here to register and for more info about the Nursery.

The Assumption is one of the few dogmas of the Church. It was proclaimed in 1950 but it’s been observed since the middle of the fifth century. For her, the resurrection of the dead has already taken place and she is the first to truly celebrate eternal life body and soul.  In her assumption, we glimpse our destiny, the beginning and image of the Church’s coming to perfection and a sign of sure hope and comfort to the pilgrim people (Preface for Mass). Learn more about this feast day by clicking here (New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia) or by clicking here (EWTN).
