Mass Intentions

Mass intentions are Masses which are offered for people to observe birthdays, anniversaries, the deceased, groups, and more. The graces of that Mass are offered for a person or group and it is made during the eucharistic prayers of consecration by the priest.  Please note that one Mass per month will be available per parishioner. Moreover, a Mass can only have one person scheduled and it is on a first-come, first-serve basis. A donation of $5 is suggested but not required at all. You will receive a card that can be filled-in with the selected date(s) and mailed to a person or family for which the Mass is being offered. Mass intention names are printed in the weekly Bulletin on page 2.

Please make your requests with the parish Secretary Melissa Casanova in the church office. Please contact her at 512.328.3220 or at mcasanova@sjnaustin.org.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Our clergy normally does not announce names for various reasons. They do have a list of each day’s scheduled intention and do offer the Mass and it’s graces for that intention. If we have a visiting priest, they may choose to announce a name, although they usually follow our parish policy.
  2. Intercessions for the deceased are different and separate from the General Intercessions/Prayers of the Faithful. Names of the deceased are announced in these prayers and are included only upon funerals scheduled at SJN or requests made to the Director of Liturgy & EIM Site Administrator Paul Juarez at 512-328-3220, ext. 107 or pjuarez@sjnaustin.org.
