A Look Back at Veteran’s Day

We were thrilled to see so many veterans at our Veteran’s Day Mass on Saturday, November 11 at the 5:30 Vigil Mass! We had a special display of our flag with flowers and a Mass field kit from Fr. Jim Evans! The Knights of Columbus were present to honor our veteran’s with a Fall Out, escorting of the gift bearers, and recessional. We thank Sir Kevin Russell and the contingent of Knights. We also had military veterans and active reserve participate in the Color Guard, presenting the American Flag in our procession. Present were Doug Murrell, Marv Shepherd, Kevin Gust, Ken Eickmann, and Barbara Brouillette. They were followed by our altar servers and clergy, notably Lt. Colonel Terry Guilbert and Retired Colonel and Military Chaplain Fr. Jim Evans.

Father Jim celebrated a beautiful Mass. His homily even drew applause! At the end of Mass we recognized all the active and retired military personnel, learning their name, rank, years of service, and/or operations or wars involved in. The music was also a delight with such choices as America the Beautiful!

Following Mass we had a reception in honor of the veterans. Our Water into Wine Ministry was on hand to serve up some delicious wine! We had food and time for fellowship with the wonderful families and veterans in attendance.

We especially thank Dee McKenzie for providing the wonderful flowers for the flag, atlar, and reception. We thank the Water into Wine, Knights, Color Guard volunteers, Nancy Biehler, and the 40+ Catholic Singles group for their help:  Millie Correa, Carolyn Egan, and Sylvia Lopez!
