Father Aloysius Nzekwe, MSP was born in Nigeria on June 5, 1975. He did his basic primary Education in his village Mbaukwu Anambra State, before going to the city for his middle and high school, at St. Patrick’s Secondary School, Enugu 1987-1990, and St. Charles Special Science School, Onitsha 1991-1993 respectively. Both were Catholic Schools. Then, feeling called by God to the priestly ministry, he spent the next two years discerning his vocation while helping at his home parish as the Parish Youth Director and Director for Religious Education.
He finally joined the Missionary Society of St. Paul formation house in Iperu-Remo Ogun State Nigeria in October 1995. On completing two years of Spiritual formation, he began his direct formation to the priesthood in October 1997 at the National Missionary Seminary of St. Paul Gwagwalda-Abuja Nigeria. After three years of philosophy/humanities and four years of studies in Theology, he was ordained Deacon in December 2003 and Priest on the 26th of June 2004. Fr Aloy, as he is generally called, worked as an associate pastor for eight months in a parish in the Diocese of Lafia, Northern Nigeria, and three years as an Administrative Assistant at the headquarters of the Missionary Society of St Paul in Abuja Nigeria, then he was assigned to the United States.
Fr. Aloy arrived in the United States of America in June 2008. He worked for four years as an Assistant Director of the Mission Development Office of the Missionary Society of St. Paul, one year as an associate pastor at St. Peter the Apostle, Houston TX, three years as a pastor at St. Stephen parish, Salado in the diocese of Austin, and was brought back in 2015 to head the Mission Development Office.
He served as the director of the Mission Development Office of the Missionary Society of St. Paul in Houston, TX where he was directly in charge of all the fundraising efforts of the Missionary Society in the USA from October 2015 to October 2022. Fr. Aloy is the third of seven children. He enjoys time with his parents, and siblings, and loves the outdoors, horticulture, hiking, traveling, and local cultures.
